Summer Enrichment Program

The Summer Enrichment Program (SEP) in July and August consists of six weeks of classes and activities aligned with Common Core standards  and STEM standards which prepare our children for the regular academic calendar that starts in September. Previously learned material will be reviewed and reinforced as new skills and concepts are introduced.

We adopt the 'staircase' method towards reading fundamentals, such as phonemic awareness, speech, language and vocabulary acquisition, reading, expression, writing and comprehension. These elements are emphasized throughout the program with the use of alphabet, phonics, sight words, word families, and story analysis to enhance reading fluency and critical thinking.

    READING

We introduce activities geared towards strengthening core math concepts that stress procedural skills, conceptual understanding and quantity correspondence.  This includes putting numbers together and taking them apart, the beginnings of addition and subtraction.
